Students of foreign language often need help of a dictionary. Vocabulary these days is variable: electronic, paper, monolingual (or explanatory), multilingual. All of them, help us learn more about the appropriate word. Monolingual dictionary gives us the entry words and definitions or meanings in the only one language. A bilingual dictionary provides a translation or explanation using another language, a language you are very familiar with, usually your native language. . They may also be called explanatory dictionaries too. Bilingual dictionary or translation dictionary is a specialized dictionary used to translate words or phrases from one language to another. There are also technical, terminal dictionaries, but today we are concentrating on online English dictionaries which offer us a great variety of words, their definitions, pronunciation and other useful information. Also, it is very convenient these days, we just need an Internet connection, furthermore, students use to say that to use an electronic dictionary they can use better than paper one.We have three entries for a word „library“,we need to find out how different they are explained in different dictionaries.Firstly, we want to know and see how the word „library“ is explained in Cambridge Online Dictionary.
