Depression and types of this disease

I chose this topic because i know it is relevant. In the today’s world, we are often confronted with this disease and the people who suffer from it. as we will be nurses we will run into such patients so we need to know the stages of this disease and how to communicate with people who are sick. so today i will examine what depression is and what its possible types are.
Depression is a mood disorder that causes a constant decrease in sadness, despair, and energy. For you to be diagnosed with major depression, your symptoms should be constant for at least two weeks. But depression is more than just a disaster. It can be strong enough to interfere with work, school, and other daily activities.
• Dysthymia, is a milder form of depression in which symptoms last for at least two years.
• Postpartum depression involves feelings of extreme sadness, fatigue, and anxiety that start after a woman gives birth.
• Premenstrual dysphoric disorder is severe depression, irritability, and anxiety that occurs in the week or two before a woman's period.
• Seasonal affective disorder is depression that occurs during the winter months and is relieved by the change of season.
• Bipolar disorder formerly called manic depression, is characterized by alternating episodes of extremely low mood (depression) and exuberant highs (mania).
• Psychotic depression includes features of both depression and psychosis, such as having false beliefs (delusions) or seeing and hearing things that are not there (hallucinations).
these are the types, but today I will discuss the most common ones.
Postpartum depression is a non-mental depressive illness that is moderate in severity. Onset often occurs four to six weeks after giving birth, but can occur at any time during the first year after giving birth. Approximately 10-15% of women experience PPD.
