Summary
Currently the creation of the decision support systems is gaining more and more of the world’s attention. Statistical data analysis models form the core of the decision support systems. Therefore the creation of the statistical data analysis models as well as data analysis methods and software is an outstanding problem. The administration of tertiary education is one of the areas where the decision support systems would make the process of organization more effective. This thesis presents the data analysis models and software that are designed to address the decision-making problems in the organization process of tertiary studies.
Information about students, entering institutions of higher education is stored in databases. The calculation of simple descriptive statistics is the most frequently applied method. In year 2003 all 16 institutions of tertiary education agreed to unify the enrollment system. Therefore, it is possible to start analyzing enrollment statistics in time. This work is dedicated to creating a data statistical analysis system for general admission to higher education institutions in Lithuania, which enables to analyze applying or accepted student’s wishes and grades according to: subject groups, universities, faculties, study modules and municipalities.
