Today I’d like to talk about ancient inventions that improved our lives. Our lives are definitely simpler and easier now than ever before. There are many devices that we use every day and never think about where they came from. It is worth to note that a lot of these things were already invented in antiquity.
Nowadays, probably no one can imagine life without writing, because it greatly facilitates communication between people. The earliest writing was probably invented by the Sumerians. They developed a system of signs needed to count annual crops, the condition of cattle and grain bins. The managers of food warehouse no longer had to remember who and how much grain was given to the state - now they could write it down. These days people use alphabetic writing, which is much simpler than ancient. It is important to notice that this invention not only improved social communication, but also has allowed other sciences to develop, for example mathematics, geometry, astrology and many other.
